We would love to hold the World Premiere of The Phoenix
Cantata at the UNESCO World Heritage site, rich in industrial heritage and brooding atmosphere. We have a date provisionally booked in May 2015, and are currently fund-raising to make this possible.
Helen Glavin's aim is to create a People's Cantata; where every voice rings out loud, clear and local. The involvement of local choirs is crucial to making it happen!
Be Part of the People's Cantata
Are you part of a mixed voice choir?
Do you sing in a male voice community choir?
Or, are you a singer in a female voice community choir?
If the answer to any of these questions is 'yes' - or you know anyone who is part of a choir and would love to take part - we'd love to hear from you.
On Saturday 11th October 2014, from 2pm, we are hosting a taster workshop at Ironbridge. If you're interested in finding out more about the Cantata please book a place.
We'll be able to tell you more about the Cantata, our plans for it's performance, the songs and inspiration behind it, and even have a go at one or two of the songs.
This will be a great opportunity to come together in song, and meet the composer, conductor, and other local singers.
Book Your Place on The Taster Workshop
Please do let us know if you're planning to come to the workshop - we'd hate to miss a chance for a cup of tea and song with you.
Click through to our 'Contact' page and let us know a bit about yourself: what choir do you sing with, who would you like to bring along with you (If you're not the musical director, why not invite him/her too?) and how many people are in your choir?
We look forward to meeting you and starting the Phoenix Cantata's journey at Ironbridge!
